MARTINSVILLE, Va. All remote, all the time. Were following the data, Martinsville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Zeb Talley said. Remote learning will be the only option, at least at the beginning of the year, for Martinsville City Schools students. While most, if not all, districts have this option in their plan, as of Monday Martinsville was the only district in the 10 News viewing area using it. Talley said the announcement was made Friday to revert to the all-remote option after seeing cases continue to increase in the city and surrounding area.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Martinsville City schools are prepared for any emergency. God’s pit crew donated more than 200 emergency blessing buckets for use in every classroom in every school. The buckets contain first-aid instructions, supplies, self-defense spray, bottled water, and items that may be needed in an emergency situation. The buckets are there to provide an extra layer of security in the event of a crisis, public shooting, or school lockdown. Danville City schools were the first public school district to receive the buckets.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. -A historic theater in Martinsville was destroyed by fire Sunday night, shocking many who view it as a huge loss for the community. The fire at the Rives Theatre was caused accidentally and is believed to have started in an upstairs room near a surge protector that two refrigerators were plugged into, according to Martinsville city officials. Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Martinsville Fire and EMS responded to the fire after someone walking by noticed smoke and flames, authorities said.
