Nelson County Sheriff’s Office said on Monday that they have been notified of a social media account posting photos of Nelson County Public School students.

With Tropical Storm Debby set to affect our area some schools have begun delaying start their start dates.

Nelson County Public Schools serves about 1,500 students in two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.

Nelson County schools will be closed Monday due to a mechanical and electrical issue at Nelson County High School and Nelson Middle School, a shared campus.

All Nelson County Public Schools will be closed Monday, August 22.

Many have planned for the possibility of having remote learning days if weather is an issue

Messages circulating social media are the source of a Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigation. The agency posted on Facebook late Sunday evening that they have received “numerous” reports and are “actively investigating.”

Nelson County Public Schools will be closed for all students on Friday, Aug. 27 due to a fight that broke out between two students and an increase in COVID-19 activity at the school.
