Virginia State Police say a high school football coach who disappeared days ago before his undefeated team’s playoff game is being sought on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material and using a computer to solicit a minor.

A local chain known for its southern food is now a thing of the past.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin asked the inspector general of Virginia to investigate the hiring of Austin Edwards by Virginia State Police, according to WCYB.

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Va. – Take a look around Buchanan County and you’re likely to find some serious damage. Strong storms and heavy rains caused mudslides in that part of Southwest Virginia on Monday night, according to WCYB. The NBC affiliate talked with a tow and and salvage company owner who said she lost about 50 vehicles. The television station also reported that one of its crews saw buildings leveled and the homes moved off their foundations.

The mother of 15-month-old Evelyn Boswell, who was found dead in March, appeared in court on Friday via video conference, according to WCYB. As of Friday, the mother, Megan Boswell, faces false reporting charges. No charges have been filed in her daughters death. During the proceedings Friday, District Attorney General Barry Staubus said that the prosecution plans to bring another matter regarding Megan Boswell to a grand jury on Aug. 19.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – It’s now been two weeks since thousands of fans were allowed into Bristol Motor Speedway to watch NASCAR’s All-Star Race. So far, there haven’t been any cases of the coronavirus directly linked to the event, according to WCYB. Then you have to do the case interview where you ask, ‘Have you been to any large venue events. We still have a little ways to go to figure out if there were any cases related to the event,” said Sullivan County Regional Health Director Dr. Stephen May. An estimated 22,000 fans attended the race.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, TENNESSEE – Tennessee toddler Evelyn Boswell was last seen in December, her body was found in March and authorities now have a person of interest in connection with this case, according to WCYB. The 15-month-old wasn’t reported missing until February, when an amber alert was issued. The NBC-affiliate for the Tri-Cities reports that investigators are still waiting on the autopsy report for Evelyn. Both Evelyn’s mother and grandmother have been arrested, but so far, no one has been charged in her death.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Va. – Tennessee authorities are searching for a missing toddler who hasn’t been seen by some of her family members for around two months. According to the Tennessee Burea of Investigation, 15-month-old Evelyn was last seen on Dec. 26, 2019 and was not reported missing until Feb. 18. Some family members told authorities they hadn’t seen her since the end of November 2019. Authorities say no piece of information is insignificant in this investigation. We have several others we will be speaking with as well, and we’ve also been receiving some leads we’ve been following up on... We want to know why the child was not reported missing earlier."

BRISTOL, Va. - For many people, Bristol is more than just a race, it's an entire experience. Glamping is a glamourous way of camping, often a more resort-like experience than traditional camping. M&M officials say the glampground experience may come to more tracks in the future, according to WCYB.

CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. - Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s plane crashed Thursday afternoon with him and his family on board. Dale's sister, Kelly, tweeted the following out after the crash:I can confirm Dale, Amy & Isla along with his two pilots were involved in a crash in Bristol TN this afternoon. The Carter County Sheriff's Office says Earnhardt has been transported to the hospital. Dale Earnhardt Jr. being treated at the scene of the crash. It took my Dad's life," Cheryl Bennett Wiygul wrote Wednesday in a Facebook post confirmed by CNN affiliate WCYB. "Daddy stayed up late Friday night and watched a movie," Wiygul wrote, adding that he "seemed to feel fine as he did all week." He got worse on the way home to Memphis, Wiygul wrote: "His legs started to hurt severely. Blunt trauma that doesn't tear the skin can also permit entry of flesh-eating bacteria, according to the CDC.
