ROANOKE (WSLS10)- A Roanoke man is behind bars after police say he brought a handgun during a fight outside Stefano's on the Market.

According to Roanoke City Police, officers had to call for additional help to break up the fights. Police say when help arrived, the police captain noticed a man in the crowd with a handgun. Police say they drew their service weapons demanding the man drop his weapon.
That man was later identified as 26-year-old Malik Roman of Roanoke.
According to reports, the man turned toward the officers and then one sergeant fired one shot at the gunman.
The suspect was not hit, and dropped his weapon. No one was injured as a result of the shot fired.
Police say Roman was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
