Round Town: Winter and music
(WSLS 10) - Mountain Lake Lodge hosts a Winter Carnival this weekend. This new, family friendly event includes all kinds of activities including a snow zone, ice bar, human bowling and more. The carnival runs Friday through Sunday.
If you're looking to keep your New Year's Resolution of eating healthier, you can head to the Berglund Center Exhibit Hall for the Eat Simple, Live Simple Expo Saturday. The event will teach how you how to prepare foods in a healthy way, plus get information on exercise, healthcare and relaxation. It's free from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Giles County hosts live music this weekend. Friday night, Right Turn, Clyde Brewery hosts Paul Morrison as he presents beach music. Palisades Restaurant in Eggleston gets in on the act as well hosting Dallas Leonard on Friday night, American Roots on Saturday and You Knew Me When on Sunday.
If you're planning a wedding this year, head to the Berglund Center on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the Greater Virginia Bridal Show. Meet wedding vendors, sample cakes and watch three runway shows. Admission is $10.
Firemen and police officers take to the ice for the annual Guns and Hoses. The two groups face off Saturday at 6 p.m. in a hockey match to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Tickets are $5.
