"The Streets are simply not safe for animals," says Paulette Dean, executive director of the Danville Area Humane Society. "The wound is massive, and we are amazed that this dog continues to be so friendly. When she came to the shelter Friday evening, she was ravenous and despite the pain she was in, she was eager to eat and drink."

Anyone with information is urged to call police. The dog will be available for adoption on Friday, February 12.
