2016's State Health Rankings: Southwest Virginia

ROANOKE (WSLS10) - Virginia's 2016 health rankings are out and Southwest Virginia continues to take up some of the lowest spots on the list.

The annual rankings are meant to help communities understand the overall health of their residents so they can implement solutions to health problems.

The list ranks communities from 1 to 134.

In Southwest Virginia, Roanoke County ranks the highest.

According to the data, part of its success lies in the availability of clinical care.

Roanoke County is followed by Botetourt and Bedford Counties.

Danville is the lowest ranked in our area, coming in at 132.

Social and economic factors contributed to the low ranking.

Henry County and Martinsville also hover near the bottom of the list.
