Job cuts coming to the Virginia Museum of Natural History

MARTINSVILLE (WSLS 10) - Jobs are being cut at the Virginia Museum of Natural History.

Museum Executive Director Dr. Joe Keiper said because of cuts to the state's budget, about half a dozen jobs will be cut.

He said the museum has already made every other cut possible, including no longer using its state vehicles or the photocopier.

"Right now, there's a lot of cross-pollination between departments. We're going to see more of that," Keiper explained. "So, areas where we're going to be reduced in staff there are going to be other staffers that are going to have to commit a certain percentage of their time to shore up that area."

The cuts will be made before the start of the new fiscal year in July.
