DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - The Danville City Council now has more information to help it decide what to do about the White Mill dam along the Dan River.

At a meeting on Tuesday night, an architect presented details, including cost estimates, for removing the dam entirely, in part or leaving it intact.

The dam is near the future Riverfront Park, so the parks and rec department commissioned a study to try to determine what would be the best option for the park.

The architect recommended removing the dam.

In 2016, city council discussed removing the dam, but many residents were opposed so the issue was tabled indefinitely.
