Roanoke Valley SPCA nearing 20,000 adoptions

The Roanoke SPCA is hoping to reach 20,000 adoptions in the next few weeks

ROANOKE, Va. – The Roanoke Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is nearing 20,000 adoptions and wants your help to meet that goal.

The SPCA has been counting adoptions since it opened the Barbara and Warner Dalhouse Adoption and Education Center in February 2004.

Shelter staff say they anticipate hitting the remarkable milestone within the next seven to 10 days and a celebration is being planned.

They also say they hope the excitement will lead to an increase in adoptions over the next few weeks. The 20,000th adopter and pet will receive a goody bag, Purina products and more.

The Roanoke Valley SPCA is located at 1340 Baldwin Avenue. It's open daily from noon to 6 p.m.
