Local Walmarts to host 'Load the Bus' school supply drive this weekend

School supplies will go to Roanoke city, Roanoke County students.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – Virginia's tax free weekend is almost here, and that means local Walmarts are ready to give back to students in need.

Local Walmart stores are hosting their annual "Load the Bus for Kids" school supply drive.

This weekend, the Bonsack, Clearbrook, Salem, and Valley View Walmart stores will be collecting school supplies for students in Roanoke City and Roanoke County. Walmart staff will have lists of items that are needed most.

"It's a great campaign we have. Some different drum lines will be here from Roanoke city and Roanoke County, cheerleaders will be here. A lot of representatives will be here. We'll back a bus in. Last year, we loaded the bus twice. The community is involved and it's a great environment, fun time," said Aaron Robins, Clearbrook Walmart store manager. 

Here is a list of donation times at the area Walmarts:

Aug. 4: 3 - 7 p.m.

Aug. 5: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Aug. 6: Noon - 6 p.m.
