Roanoke fire leaves $475K in damages, was accidental, crews say

The fire happened at a commercial building off of Orange Avenue NE Wednesday

ROANOKE, Va.UPDATE:

A fire at a commercial building in Roanoke on Wednesday has been deemed accidental and left thousands of dollars in damages, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS.

On Wednesday at 11:56 a.m., crews were dispatched to the 110 block of Orange Avenue NE for reports of a structure fire.

We’re told units got to the scene within five minutes, where they saw smoke and flames coming from a commercial structure.

After entering the building, crews said they found a vehicle on fire.

According to Roanoke Fire-EMS, crews were able to get the fire under control by 12:22 p.m., and no injuries were reported.

The Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the fire was accidental.

Damages to the building and its contents are estimated to be $475,000, Roanoke Fire-EMS said.
