When they got to the scene, crews said they saw heavy smoke coming from the interior and flames coming from a basement window.

Crews made their way into the building to search for victims while others began to attack the fire.

Unfortunately, two dogs were removed from the blaze and later died, despite the crews’ efforts on-scene. Nobody was hurt in the fire.

Extensive damage was left to the basement, along with heavy smoke throughout the rest of the structure, according to the fire department.

The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause of the fire to be unattended cooking.

Three engines, one ladder truck a safety officer and a Battalion Chief responded to the call, crews said.
