Virginia sees 3,771 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 367,536 statewide

RICHMOND, Va. – As of January 4, Virginia is reporting 367,536 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

As of Monday, across Virginia, 504 new vaccine doses were administered for a total of 89,326, according to VDH.

Monday’s total of 367,536 cases marks an increase from Saturday’s total of 363,765 cases.

Here’s a breakdown of Monday’s 3,771 new coronavirus cases:

  • 329 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 208 new cases in Prince William County
  • 165 new cases in Henrico County
  • 153 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 141 new cases in Augusta County
  • 131 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 119 new cases in Hampton
  • 117 new cases in Newport News
  • 105 new cases in Southampton County
  • 101 new cases in Richmond
  • 94 new cases in Portsmouth
  • 92 new cases in Norfolk

  • 1 new case in Nottoway County, Charlotte County, Patrick County, Emporia and Charles City County
  • Prince Edward County decreased by three cases

As of Monday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 5,261,537 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
