Liberty Christian Academy sends 12 athletes to next level

LCA sends athletes to play in college on National Signing Day

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Twelve student-athletes at Liberty Christian Academy signed to play sports at the collegiate level.

Four football players signed letters of intent.

Malachi Woody is heading to Gannon University. Stephen Murphy is headed to Ferrum College. Joel Calkins will play at Randolph Macon College and Ben Garbarini will play at Christopher Newport University.

Edriel Martinborough signed to play basketball at Evangel University.

Two Bulldogs will play collegiate baseball: Pearce Howard is heading to Southeastern Community College and Hunter Johnson will play at James Madison University.

Lacy Staton and Jon Doss will run track at Liberty University.

Other athletes heading to Liberty are David Schafer, who signed to swim, Chad Cantrell will wrestle, and Rebekah Howard, who will cheer for the Flames. 

"We've been tremendously blessed. This is our third signing day of this year alone where we've had four, six and now twelve. So it's a large signing group and a tremendous senior class too," LCA athletic director Frank Rocco said.
