BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente confirmed Tuesday that junior safety Terrell Edmunds has undergone surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2017 season.

Edmunds has played through the left shoulder injury for most of the season but decided to take steps now to help in the future.

"Terrell has battled through this condition for much of the season without missing any playing time," Fuente said. "After further evaluation, our medical staff, Terrell, and his family all agreed that the most prudent course of action was to undergo surgery and begin the rehab process as soon as possible. We look forward to Terrell making a complete recovery."

In 10 starts this season, the former Dan River standout had 59 tackles, two interceptions and 1.5 sacks for the Hokies.
