Carvinโs Cove water to be used in Luke Bryan beer collaboration
BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. โ Two Lane brewing company announced a new collaboration for its beer that will feature ingredients from the Roanoke Valley. According to the companyโs website, the beer will use homegrown two-row barley and water from Carvinโs Cove. This oasis supplies crisp, clean drinking water for people miles around, and is a key ingredient in each can of Two Lane.โ Two Lane Brewing CompanyThe Luke Bryan collaboration is Two Lane American Golden Lager. It will be brewed at the Ballast Point facility in Daleville. As weโve reported, Ballast Point shut down its taproom and restaurant in Sept. 2019.
Botetourt County citizens celebrate 250th anniversary
DALEVILLE, Va. โ People in Botetourt County celebrated a very special anniversary Saturday afternoon. Hundreds of residents filed into Lord Botetourt High School to commemorate the countyโs 250th anniversary. Botetourt County was officially established on January 31, 1770. The event, which featured speeches and historical artifacts, kickstarts a year full of sestercentennial anniversary events within the county. Bank of Botetourt CEO Lyn Hayth, who is a lifelong resident of Botetourt County, says heโs both proud of the countyโs history and hopeful for whatโs next.
Botetourt County to celebrate 250th anniversary with big event this weekend
FINCASTLE, Va. โ Botetourt County is getting ready to celebrate a major milestone in the regionโs history. February 1 begins the year-long party for the countyโs 250th anniversary. The countyโs charter began February 1, 1770, and many of the places in Fincastle, like the courthouse, date back just as far. The goal is to not only honor the history but help shape the future of the county. The first event is Saturday at Lord Botetourt High School from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
As growth continues, Botetourt County residents make wish list for new businesses
BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. โ Botetourt County is growing faster than leaders could have hoped for. The county recently got the results of a survey that told them what businesses residents want in their county. New Freedom Farm expands with community center for veterans in need
BUCHANAN, Va. โ A Buchanan horse farm focused on helping veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder now has a new addition. The Steve Goodwin Veterans Center opened at New Freedom Farm Saturday morning. The center provides a place for veterans to relax indoors, as well as New Freedom Farmโs offices. โNew Freedom Farm means everything to me," said Andrew Kintgen, an Army veteran who teaches at the farm. "He had more faith in me than I did.โNew Freedom Farm has been in operation since 2016.
Botetourt County leaders say itโs โtime to celebrateโ after record-setting revenue
BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. โ One local county is celebrating success this week. At its first-ever State of the County Address, Botetourt leaders said Friday that the county is doing great, and it has more money to spend than ever before. Through recent projects like the Daleville Town Center, the county helped add 500 more homes, far exceeding its goal. It was very, very popular with people and weโll definitely do it again,โ said Grant Holmes, the Executive Director of the Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce. This all comes as Botetourt County prepares to turn 250 years old.
