The search for two missing baby giraffes from the Natural Bridge Zoo is gaining new attention after PETA and actress Alicia Silverstone teamed up to offer a $50,000 reward for tips leading to their location.

Equestrian riders at the Paris Olympics say they were shocked by a recent video showing three-time gold medalist Charlotte Dujardin of Britain repeatedly whipping a horse during training, a scandal that has thrust the issue of animal welfare and abuse into the spotlight.

The Natural Bridge Zoo appeared in court on Wednesday, as both the zoo and state are appealing a judge’s ruling that only a little over half of about 100 animals seized from the zoo during a raid by the state in December was justified.

10 News was able to obtain court documents Friday about the search at the Natural Bridge Zoo.

According to Virginia State Police, the search at the Natural Bridge Zoo in Rockbridge County has come to an end.

PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a dog that was found with it’s legs taped together in a dumpster in Pulaski.

DANVILLE, Va. A local animal shelter is offering rewards in two separate cases of animal abuse in three days. A $1,000 reward is being offered for a dog brought to the Danville Area Humane Society on Monday. The person who brought it in said they saw it get thrown out of a car. On Saturday, eight cats, including four kittens, were brought in after they were found in a closed tote outside a restaurant in Danville. A $1,000 reward is also being offered and PETA is offering an additional $5,000.

Billboard debuted the animated video from the Beatles legend, which is set to his 1993 protest song, "Looking for Changes." McCartney, an outspoken animal rights activist, donated the song to PETA's campaign to end experiments on animals. "I'm looking for changes that will continue the momentum of getting animals out of laboratories," McCartney said. "Experiments on animals are unethical -- they're a colossal failure and a waste of time and money.

LYNCHBURG, Va. - PETA is continuing its efforts to shut down SeaQuest, an aquarium which is planning to open this fall in Lynchburg's River Ridge Mall. On Thursday morning, the organization filed a request with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to cancel the Animal Welfare Act exhibitor license held by SeaQuest. PETA's letter claims that SeaQuest has violated federal, state and local laws pertaining to cruelty, transportation, ownership, neglect or welfare of animals, which gives the USDA the right to revoke the license. State officials suspended the location's state permit after a series of state law and permit violations. "PETA is calling on the USDA to yank this cruel petting zoo's license," said PETA Foundation Director of Captive Animal Law Enforcement Brittany Peet.

In the middle of a busy highway, as Hurricane Dorian slammed Virginia Beach with its rain and winds, a PETA rescue worker ran down the street to rescue stranded pelicans. Video of the rescue shows one bird unable to fly and sitting on the side of the road. It tries flying away, but the pelican's wings seem to be no match for the whipping winds. The rescue worker uses her sweatshirt again to snatch it up and get it into the van. (CNN) - Noted animal rights activist Paul McCartney implored a Texas university to end its purported use of dogs as laboratory test subjects. In a letter published by PETA, McCartney asked Texas A&M University President Michael Young to halt muscular dystrophy research with golden retrievers and release them for adoption. The dogs, PETA said, were bred with the canine muscular dystrophy gene and held in metal cells. Texas A&M University did not immediately respond to a request for comment. There's currently not a cure for muscular dystrophy, the Mayo Clinic said.
