DANVILLE (WSLS10) - Danville Donuts is showing its appreciation for police officers.
Friday morning, the shop donated two dozen doughnuts to the Danville Police Department after hearing about the officers killed in Dallas.
Owner James Simmons says he was not trying to make a political statement, he simply believes it is a civic responsibility to show respect for people who put their lives on the line to protect the community.
"I've seen, probably in the past few years, a decline in support for the police department," Simmons said. "I know they do a fine job here in town. I've seen their actions and I know their reputation's good."
American National Bank also provided lunch and dinner for the officers.
