RICHMOND, Va. ā€“ As of October 20, Virginia is now reporting 167,754 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Tuesdayā€™s total of 167,754 marks an increase from Mondayā€™s total of 166,828 cases.

Here is a breakdown of the 926 new cases in Virginia:

  • 82 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 62 new cases in Prince William County
  • 60 new cases in Roanoke
  • 42 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 40 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 36 new cases in Henrico County
  • 32 new cases in Roanoke County
  • 30 new cases in Norfolk
  • 25 new cases in Richmond
  • 24 new cases in Salem
  • 23 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 20 new cases in Montgomery County and Newport News
  • 19 new cases in Hampton
  • 18 new cases in Lynchburg
  • 16 new cases in Spotsylvania County and Franklin County
  • 15 new cases in Chesapeake and Arlington County
  • 12 new cases in Stafford County
  • 11 new cases in Bedford County and Amherst County
  • 10 new cases in Frederick County, Scott County and Alexandria
  • 9 new cases in Campbell County, Albemarle County, Warren County and Isle of Wight County
  • 8 new cases in Culpeper County, Radford, Petersburg, Hanover County, Carroll County, Fauquier County and Lee County
  • 7 new cases in Wise County, Smyth County, Suffolk and Pittsylvania County
  • 6 new cases in Shenandoah County, Portsmouth, Staunton, Southampton County and Botetourt County
  • 5 new cases in Prince George County, Waynesboro, Prince Edward County, Hopewell, James City County, Grayson County, Nottoway County and Alleghany County
  • 4 new cases in Washington County, Charlottesville, Danville, Dinwiddie County, Pulaski County, Buchanan County, Russell County and Patrick County
  • 3 new cases in Harrisonburg, Orange County, Lunenburg County, Tazewell County, York County, Charlotte County, King William County, King George County, Goochland County, Powhatan County and Lexington
  • 2 new cases in Rockingham County, Martinsville, Louisa County, Henry County, Brunswick County, Page County, Buckingham County, Franklin, Caroline County, Emporia, Clarke County, Galax, Covington, Accomack County, Amelia County and Cumberland County
  • 1 new case in Halifax County, Williamsburg, New Kent County, Lancaster County, Rappahannock, Colonial Heights, Floyd County, Manassas Park, Charles City County, Nelson County, Norton, Madison County and Fairfax
  • Manassas, Wythe County, Surry County and Essex County all decreased by one case
  • Augusta County and Westmoreland County decreased by two cases
  • Mathews County decreased by five cases
  • Richmond County decreased by 12 cases
  • Sussex County decreased by 13 cases

As of Tuesday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 2,598,125 total testing encounters.

The term ā€œtesting encountersā€ includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
