The Altavista Police Department announced Sunday that it had arrested a 21-year-old after he shot another individual during an altercation Sunday morning.

A 911 call came in at about 5:24 p.m. reporting "gunshots and several victims," Philadelphia police said. "At 8th Street and Clearfield Street on the highway at approximately 5:24 p.m., E-911 received a call for gunshots and several victims shot on the highway," Philadelphia police said in an emailed statement, adding that there are "currently 6 victims at Temple University Hospital." LYNCHBURG, Va. - Lynchburg's downtown area is getting a major face-lift, but locals say construction could be bad for business. The Main Street Renewal Project in Lynchburg will close sidewalks and the road from 8th Street to 12th Street. Crews will replace water, power, sewer and sanitary lines underground. Above ground, they will replace sidewalks and landscaping. The project manager says they'll do the best they can to minimize the impact on businesses, locals and tourists.
