NBA player, Roanoke native Troy Daniels donates to Roanoke City Schools

Roanoke, Va. – Roanoke native and current Denver Nuggets guard Troy Daniels has donated $3,000 to help Roanoke City Schools feed children during the weekends. Roanoke City Schools tweeted out a thank you to the William Fleming grad on Thursday. The 6-year NBA pro’s trek to pro basketball started at William Fleming, then took him to VCU. He broke into the league with Houston, and has had stints with Minnesota, Charlotte, Memphis, Phoenix and the Los Angeles Lakers and is now a Denver Nugget.

ROANOKE, Va. - Update: Troy Daniels agrees to a 1-year deal with the Lakers for 2.1 million dollars. Six years ago nearly to the day, William Fleming grad and Virginia Commonwealth University alumni Troy Daniels was waiting for the same phone call. And so began the winding and unpredictable NBA career of a free agent. "I can't really complain, I'm blessed, I'm undrafted, I'm in the NBA. Especially when you get out there to the real world and that's what motivates me every day," Daniels admitted.

NBA player Troy Daniels hosts third annual 'Dream Big' basketball camp in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. - Former Phoenix Sun and NBA star Troy Daniels is back in Roanoke for his third annual 'Dream Big' basketball camp at his alma mater, William Fleming High School. The camp, which is open to boys and girls ages 7-15, started Thursday and runs to Saturday June 29th. 'Dream Big' allows aspiring basketball players to learn skills and drills from Daniels, who spent the last two seasons with the Phoenix Suns after stints with three other NBA teams. Despite his career and busy schedule, Daniels still values the importance of giving back to his community. "Little kids look up to me and use me as an example so I'm their example of 'Hey, I'm from Roanoke, Virginia.
