Caleb Farley sent a video to ESPN, announcing his decision to not play college football this upcoming season. I am opting out due to uncertain health conditions and regulations and all the other opt-outs going on in football right now. So thank you Virginia Tech, my coaches, teammates and anyone else who has supported me in the past. Schefter said that Farley is a projected first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Farley, who was a redshirt junior, was named First Team All-ACC last season and was tied for second in the league with four interceptions.

Hokies LB Ashby, CB Farley named to AP All-ACC team

RALEIGH, NC – Third-ranked Clemson once again dominated the Associated Press All-Atlantic Coast Conference teams and individual awards released Tuesday. Led by unanimous selections Travis Etienne at running back and Isaiah Simmons at linebacker, eight Tigers made the first team. Clemson earned its fifth straight berth in the College Football Playoff a day after routing Virginia in the league title game. Etienne repeated as the offensive player of the year while Simmons was chosen as the defensive player of the year. Louisville coach Scott Satterfield is the coach of the year while North Carolina freshman quarterback Sam Howell is the newcomer of the year.

Cornerback job still up for grabs at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Fans can only assume that Caleb Farley will be the Hokies' starting cornerback. He's got the strength, skill, and experience, but an injury-riddled 2017 set him back a little bit. Despite his starts last year, cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell made it clear that the starting spot is far from locked up. "I know Farley has a great skill set that some of the guys don't have. He's doing a great job.
