The Dallas Cowboys have signed cornerback DaRon Bland to a $92 million, four-year contract extension four days before the NFL opener at defending champ and NFC East rival Philadelphia.

Hitachi Energy is investing $22.5 million to expand its current facility in Bland and to add a warehouse facility in Atkins, creating 120 new jobs as a result.

One is dead following a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Wythe County on Tuesday, Virginia State Police Said.

Baits will be distributed throughout a vaccination area that includes parts of Bland, Giles, Grayson, Smyth, Russell, Washington, Wythe, Tazewell, Bristol, and Abingdon. In total, approximately 216,000 coated sachet baits containing the oral rabies vaccine will be distributed across a 4,280-square-kilometer bait zone in southwestern Virginia.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for areas and along and west of the Parkway from 10 a.m. Monday through noon Tuesday. The winds will be strong farther east, but the strongest winds will be in the mountains.

ROANOKE, Va. - The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for most of the 10 News area. Grayson, Carroll, Wythe, Bland, Pulaski, Giles, Craig, Alleghany, Bath and Highland counties are OUT of the Tornado Watch. A warning means that a tornado is imminent or likely to happen soon. If a warning is issued for your location, you need to seek shelter in the lowest possible spot, away from windows. Once it does, the wind will become strong at times through early Friday morning.

SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA - Twelve counties across Southwest Virginia have issued burn bans due to dangerously dry conditions. Chris Thomsen, with the Virginia Department of Forestry's, said the dry conditions go deeper than the ground's surface, so putting out fires is that much harder. "A bush hog will go out and the blade will strike a rock and it will spark a fire and you don't see that if it's not this dry," Thomsen said. As long as the drought doesn't let up, neither will the burn bans. "Sooner or later we'll be out of this, it just doesn't look like it's going to be anytime soon," Thomsen said.

Noah McAdams was removed from his parents' custody in April when they skipped a chemotherapy session and left the state in pursuit of alternative treatments. "Noah is going through an absolutely traumatic medical experience and he is doing so without his parents," Elvington told CNN. A lengthy custody battleNoah, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in April, has been in state custody since police removed him from his parents' custody in Kentucky. A dependency court judge then ordered Noah to complete the prescribed chemotherapy treatment against his parents' wishes. The judge ruled that Bland and McAdams undergo psychological evaluations as a part of the process to potentially regain custody, Elvington said.

CAMPBELL COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Stop 17 on the Virginia Proud Weather took Jeff Haniewich to the Lynchburg Regional Airport ahead of the Lynchburg Regional Airshow this weekend. Jeff had the opportunity to ride in an L-39 Albatros on Friday. That's one of the jets that will be flying in the show.
