As Fleet Feet celebrates its 18th birthday, you could win a $500 gift card
ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. โ This weekend people in Roanoke will have the chance to run and raise money for a good cause. Fleet Feet is celebrating its 18th birthday with a virtual birthday run. It costs $10 to sign-up; however, the money raised will go toward Feeding Southwest Virginia and participants will also have the chance to win either a $250, $150 or $100 Fleet Feet gift card or a pair of ASICS shoes. Participants can choose the distance theyโd like to run or walk for the event. Virtual runners also have the chance to win a gift card or a pair of shoes on March 8 if they post it on their social media between Friday and 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, tag Fleet Feet and use the hashtag mentioned in Fleet Feetโs post below.
Salem launches virtual run to help arts-based nonprofits
SALEM, Va The Salem Civic Center and Fleet Feet have announced a new virtual running event to encourage music lovers to get active. The inaugural Miles for Music run will take place remotely from September 1-20. Organizers said the event, is a collaboration between other music venues in the area in hopes of bringing the community together through music. People can take part in a virtual ride, walk, run, 5K, 10K, half or full marathon experience at the place and pace of their choice. The $40 entry fee includes a 50/50 poly-cotton race t-shirt, downloadable race bib, a custom 3-inch finisher medal with satin ribbon featuring the music venues and online tracking of times and standings, for those who register by Aug. 12.
Now virtual 4th of July race raises money for children across the region
ROANOKE, Va. Heres one Independence Day tradition you can still do, run in the Four on the Fourth race. However, itll be a bit different because this years race, which supports the Boys and Girls Club of SWVA, is virtual. All the proceeds from Four on the Fourth go to Boys and Girls Club of SWVA. Your race registration can make a big difference to Boys and Girls Club. Race registration numbers are low this year, which is a concern, especially given that the race sold out in 2019.
Fleet Feet Roanoke selling special T-shirts in wake of nationwide protests
ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. A local running apparel store is contributing to the nationwide movement for racial justice by selling special T-shirts. About 60 shirts had been ordered from Fleet Feet in Roanoke as of Thursday afternoon. Its the Roanoke Way.100% of the proceeds will go to TAP and Humble Hustle in Roanoke. Were welcoming to all, were inclusive, said Fleet Feet Marketing Manager Casey Lewis. As of Thursday, about 200 shirts were available but more could be ordered if the demand is high enough.
Training for Roanoke's Ironman? Here's where to start
ROANOKE, Va. - One of the toughest athletic competitions is coming to Roanoke, and local athletes and professionals want to help you train. The running gear store Fleet Feet and Core Chiropractic and Wellness are hosting a series of clinics to help people train for the 2020 Carilion Clinic Ironman, a 70.3-mile bike, swim and run. "It's just giving people a better idea of what to expect before they get to race day." The first is on Sept. 23 at 7:15 p.m. at Fleet Feet, located at 4347 Franklin Rd. SW, Roanoke, VA 24018.
