A crash is blocking traffic on Old Forest Road in Lynchburg. Authorities say the two-car accident has blocked three lanes of traffic near the intersection of Old Forest Road and Link Road. Crews are asking drivers to avoid the area.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A months-long internal investigation didn’t have the result one Lynchubrg woman hoped it would. Lynchburg police determined that an accusation related to an arrest and Taser usage in the area of Old Forest Road on June 2 did not happen. Members of the Lynchburg Police Department worked with Commonwealth’s Attorney Bethany Harrison and determined the appropriate charge. Jaccarra Taylor, 22, of Lynchburg, is charged with filing a false police report, a Class 1 misdemeanor and was taken into custody Thursday night without incident and was released on bond, according to Lynchburg police. This false allegation tied up resources that could have otherwise been used to keep our community safe.”

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Police Department is investigating the possible inappropriate behavior of one of its officers. On Wednesday, the Department received information about an accusation related to an arrest and stun gun usage in the area of Old Forest Road on Tuesday night. Once the accusation was received, an investigation began immediately, according to police. The preliminary investigation indicates that no officers had any interactions with anyone in the Old Forest Road area during the time frame of the accusation. LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lynchburg police are searching for the person responsible for an armed robbery on Old Forest Road on Tuesday. Authorities say the suspect entered Kwik Stop with a handgun and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say the suspect’s gender is unconfirmed at this time. LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Police Department released the name of the 37-year-old Lynchburg man who died in Thursday night’s crash. An officer thought Antonio Terrell Hunt Sr. was driving under the influence and initiated a traffic stop at 10:44 p.m., according to police. A driver is dead after a chase led to a fatal crash in Lynchburg, according to police. The driver then sped away and the officer reportedly tried to catch up, but eventually lost sight of the car. Crews arrived and then reportedly took the driver to Lynchburg General Hospital, where they died as a result of their injuries.

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Years down the road, people in Lynchburg will be driving on a bridge over Lakeside Drive. The city is in the beginning stages of creating a four-lane bridge and a roundabout near the intersection of Old Forest Road and Lakeside Drive. This comes after a rainstorm damaged the College Lake dam last year. The Water Resources Department recently received $5 million from Virginia lawmakers to fix the dam and lake bed. Now the public works director says $22 million from the city's capital improvement budget will be used to build the bridge and roundabout.
