Monday’s setup provided multiple reports of wind damage and now a confirmed tornado

Some of us are waking up to light snow accumulation this morning! This weather whiplash shows us just how strong a cold front we had passing through yesterday! The temperature change has been so harsh that the remaining moisture behind our cold front brought snowfall to the region.

After numerous severe weather warnings, the cold returns behind a powerful front.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for parts of Pittsylvania and Halifax Counties, and the City of Danville.

An easy Sunday is expected, with a few showers thrown in!

Quiet tonight but isolated showers will form on Sunday with the main event coming on Monday. Please stay weather aware early next week as a Weather Authority Alert Day has been issued for Monday due to the potential for strong-to-severe storms.

Though today is not the true St. Patrick's Day, there are loads events around the region with lovely weather to accompany!

It looks like the weather will cooperate for any of the several St Paddy's Day activities across our area this weekend!

Today's forecast includes wind, rain, and even some wintry precipitation despite being just shy of a week away from the first day of spring!

This morning we have been very dry and mild, with a bit of muggy air working its way in. However, this afternoon that airmass paired with an approaching cold front could bring a few isolated strong to severe storms. A slight risk, which is a 2 out of 5 on the SPC’s scale is now in place for the Highlands Zone. A marginal risk, which is a 1 out of 5 for the NRV, Roanoke and Lynchburg Zones. Be sure to stay weather aware this afternoon and be in a place where you can hear alerts if they are issued.

Rain showers this morning are staying further to our south, but we will get our chance at precipitation later on in the afternoon.

Your out-the-door forecast this morning is beautiful! We start off with mild temperatures thanks to overnight clouds, but not to worry, any remaining cloud cover burns off by lunchtime, making way for lots of sunshine!

Though most of the day will be dry, we will be seeing some occasional rain showers across the region.

Temperatures today will be in the upper 70s to low 80s with some showers and thunderstorms later this afternoon. A similar trend will be the case for more days this week!
