Temperature Roller Coaster Continues: December Has Been Quite The Ride

Merry Christmas! Conditions tonight will be relatively calm, before we cool down tomorrow. There is a chance for some showers tomorrow, but it remains isolated at the most. The mountains have the best chance with any rainfall development. With a cold air wedge in place, freezing rain is a possibility towards the Alleghany Highlands, but chances are still low.

If you’ve got some super last-minute shopping to do, the weather will once again not get in the way. It will be a bit on the warmer side all day long.

If you were hoping for a white Christmas, we have bad news for you. It will be exceptionally warm across the majority of the country for the holiday this year.

After a brutally cold start to the week, we are finally seeing some relief from the horrid temperatures. Our feels-like temperatures this evening will line up fairly close with the actual air temperatures! Lows tonight will fall into the mid to lower 30s, which is actually seasonal for this time of year!

Tuesday’s setup is what brings near-normal high temperatures back into the region.

A Weather Authority Alert Day has been issued for Sunday and Monday for dangerous wind chills that will enter the area following an arctic front.

A Weather Authority Alert Day has been issued for Friday, December 12th, for accumulating snowfall mainly west of I-81.

Wind chill is the big story for the day, with the real feel staying in the 20s for most of the region.

A few isolated showers are possible through the middle of the day as temperatures slowly warm into the 40s.
