A Clipper-system moves through today giving us rain, snow, all of the above! Check out today's article to learn more about this weekend's weather!

Southwest and Central Virginia face a weekend of clipper systems and a significant chance of rare snow in the Carolinas, along with wind chills and below-average temperatures, according to 10 News Weather Authority.

A few snow flurries have worked their way into the region overnight and into the early morning hours today. This is all because of a quick-moving clipper system that will exit within the next couple of hours. We will then clear out the cloud cover for the remainder of the day!

Although most of the region has a mild morning in store, everything will change into the evening and overnight hours tonight. A sudden chill takes over as a cold front passes through that will very much live up to its name.

Today is a layering day! We start off cold this morning with temperatures in the 20s and end up this afternoon back in mid 50s.

After a very mild Friday, a big change is in store for Monday. Highs today will be average for this time of year, but much colder in comparison to what we experienced just 48 hours ago.

Rain is expected throughout the day, offering needed moisture due to ongoing drought conditions, but it won't be enough to alleviate the situation. A warm front is currently influencing the area, but a cold front will arrive by afternoon, bringing thunderstorms and potential light flash-flooding, especially on roads and bridges.

While we have been dry early this morning, that will change later on in the morning! This weekend will be one where you need to keep the umbrella handy. Once this next system exits, we will have a drastic drop in temperatures in the wake of a cold front.

Significant rainfall and unseasonably warm temperatures are expected to impact Southwest and Central Virginia through the weekend, with winds picking up and cooler weather on the way.

As you are headed out the door this morning, you may only need a light jacket! Temperatures are very mild. We will quickly warm up into the 60s by noon and reach a high of 63 degrees.

Most of us will enjoy well-above-normal warmth, with Southwest Virginia hitting near 60 degrees by this afternoon. 🌤️
