Police said this comes after hundreds of votes for the high school’s Homecoming Court voting were flagged as fake because 117 votes came from the same IP address within a short period in October 2020. AdOfficers said they also found that in August 2019, Carroll’s FOCUS account had accessed 372 high school records with 339 of those being Tate High School students.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – On Monday, health department inspectors toured the Western Virginia Regional Jail and gave it a positive review for its operation and protocols. About 230 inmates out of 814 inmates have now tested positive for COVID-19 at the Western Virginia Regional Jail. Dr. Molly O’Dell with the Roanoke Health District inspected the jail and said compared to other jails, Western Virginia Regional Jail is clean and operates well. Several inmates said the quarantine period for the inmates who test positive ranges from three to nine days. Along with attaining more PPE supplies, Russell said they added more medical staff members to handle the hundreds of inmates.

Last year, Virginia State Police reports that there were 7 deadly crashes. According to police, the crashes happened in Albemarle, Arlington, Bedford, Carroll, James City, Lunenburg, Price Edward and Russell counties. Authorities say the crashes in Augusta, Arlington and Russell counties involved motorcycles. Virginia State Police reported a total of 444 crashes.

ROANOKE, Va. - The first day of school is Wednesday, August 7 for many districts including Appomottox, Carroll, Grayson, and Nelson counties and Martinsville city. Virginia changed the age for getting a Tdap booster shot. To align with current ACIP recommendations, the 2019 General Assembly passed HB 2215 that changes the grade in which students receive Tdap vaccine from sixth to seventh grade. Students who received a Tdap immunization at age ten will not need another Tdap vaccine to enter seventh grade. He says establishing a routine is important and you should start a week or two before school starts.
