WEATHER ALERT

A special weather statement in effect for 4 regions in the area

DECEMBER

Saying goodbye to 2022 with a rainy afternoon

Rain wraps up just in time for the start of the new year

Calm and sunny before a soggy end to the year

Sunshine brings temperatures into the 60s for the last workday of 2022

Coldest December since 2010 closes out with warmer-than-average afternoons

Outside of New Year's Eve, the next several days will feature afternoon highs near or above 60°

Cold but dry before our next big system

If you’re planning on shopping this week use the calm first half of the week

Lots of calm weather after an icy Thursday

Get ready for sunshine and average temperatures to stick around

More clouds, more rain before sunshine next week

The sun comes back to start next week

Keep those rain boots on: more showers today and tomorrow

Our weather pattern holds firm until the weekend

Unsettled weather pattern to bring occasional showers now through Friday

It won't be wet the entire time, but showers will be part of the forecast through Friday

Bundle up! Cold this morning before more rain this weekend

High pressure behind Wednesday’s front means sunshine and cold air

Fall, winter battle it out over southwest, central Virginia the rest of the week

A few of us will see snowflakes in the air Wednesday, while most see near-record warmth Saturday

Finally feeling like December after one of the warmest starts to the month on record

A brief burst of snow and sleet is possible for parts of the area Wednesday morning

Winter attempts to bite back after very warm start to December

A pair of storm systems move through Monday and Wednesday

Feeling like October AGAIN today!

If you enjoyed yesterday’s unseasonal warmth, you’re going to love today’s weather too! We begin the day very mild, in the 40s and 50s. Although that may sound a bit chilly, our average low this time of the year is in the middle 30s.

Big warm-up! Temperatures to reach near-record highs Thursday afternoon

The next few afternoons will have more of a hint of October - not December.

December to start off feeling more like October at times

High temperatures reach the 60s (and perhaps 70s) later this week

Going from Decembrrr chill to a taste of early November within a matter of days

ROANOKE, Va. – Watch for wet spots on bridges and overpasses, as they may have turned slick since Monday’s light snow event. The wind started picking up Monday evening and hasn’t let up since, making it feel a little uncomfortable at times Tuesday morning. High temperature forecast for Tuesday, 12/8/2020If this wintry chill isn’t your cup of tea, then we’ve got good news for you later this week. As the jet stream retreats to the north, warmer air will move in from Thursday through Saturday. Upper air pattern by Thursday, 12/10/2020The jet stream does buckle, though, helping a cold front move our way over the weekend.
