New information Thursday night in the Natural Bridge Zoo Giraffe saga. Owners of the Zoo appealed a Circuit Court Ruling allowing the state to seize the remaining giraffes.
A lengthy legal battle over the future of animals currently housed at the Natural Bridge Zoo hit a new front Tuesday, as authorities seized one of the zoo’s giraffes after failing to do so on Monday.
The Mill Mountain Zoo has announced the Skyline Stage, an accessible space designed for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the Zoo.
A decision on whether the seizure of animals at Natural Bridge Zoo was justified could be made by a judge next week, meanwhile, the lead attorney on the case is questioning the credibility of the state’s Animal Law Unit.
A judge will soon decide whether or not Natural Bridge Zoo will get back nearly 100 animals seized by the state.

Watch these videos of a baby polar bear from the Detroit Zoo experiencing snow for the very first time. This little bear, who has a twin, was born at the Detroit Zoo in January to 8-year-old Suka and 16-year-old Nuka. Suka has give birth twice in the past few years, but unfortunately, those baby bears did not survive. This is the first time a polar bear has been born and raised in the Zoo in more than 15 years. The twin polar bears don’t have names yet, but they are doing just fine and adjusting to this new life.

WARSAW – A zoo in Poland says it's the first to have captured on video the birth of a rare Philippine mouse-deer, and everyone's hoping it’s a male so it can help the endangered species breed. The night birth on Nov. 10 at 2:24 a.m. at the Wroclaw Zoo was filmed by a camera in the stall. It has given experts some knowledge on the mouse-deer’s birth process and the first actions of a newborn, including that it begins to nurse quite quickly. “It is a conservation milestone for this species,” the head of the Wroclaw Zoo, Radosław Ratajszczak was quoted as saying in a statement Tuesday. Their population is shrinking as they lose habitat to palm oil plantations, the Wroclaw Zoo said.
ROANOKE, Va. - Zoo Boo took place Saturday at Mill Mountain Zoo. The zoo opened its gates to parents and children to collect candy and enjoy activities. Zoo members were able to get in for free. After two weeks of a sharp decline in her health, the zoo decided to enter Little Mac into hospice care several days before her death. Dr. Julie Barnes, the zoo's director of animal care and health, said in a press statement before Little Mac's death. Melinda Morgan-Stowell, a guest service manager at the zoo, told CNN Saturday that Little Mac was the last elephant the zoo will ever have. Current regulations require far more room than the zoo has, so the zoo's elephant program and exhibit will be permanently closed, she said.
