The two-day festival will take movie fans into the world of Johnny and Baby

Mountain Lake Lodge is set to host its first-ever “Dirty Dancing Days" Summer Festival on Aug. 16 and Aug. 17.

Hiking and outdoor activities are a main economic driver for Giles County, and now they have added more to an iconic location in the county.

Forever known as the backdrop for the cult classic movie Dirty Dancing, Mountain Lake Lodge is switching to a new genre this holiday.

To bring more awareness to mental health struggles, even here in Virginia, Mountain Lake Lodge is partnering with Carilion Clinic Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Services to support the many initiatives critical to helping those in need, Stone said.

The Dirty Dancing filming location is debuting Kellerman’s Gift Shop and Salt Pond Living.

GILES COUNTY, Va. – In the mountains of Giles County, a famous and mysterious lake that completely dried up years ago is coming back to life. However, about 12 years ago, the lake dried up completely. This summer, Mountain Lake is coming back to life and has risen to about one-third full. Mountain Lake in Giles County is about one-third full and seems to be holding its water levels. “Mountain Lake has been doing great for several years.”With or without the lake, guests said they still plan to return.

PEMBROKE – Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke has been named “Hotel of the Year” by the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association which annually recognizes the best among the State’s hospitality and tourism industry. In addition to the lodge being named 'Hotel of the Year,' Mountain Lake’s General Manager, Heidi Stone, has been named 'Hotelier of the Year'. “We stand in awe of our ‘Miracle on the Mountain.’ It’s a real comeback story where Heidi Stone and her hard-working team, along with the Mountain Lake Board of Directors, have kept Mountain Lake and the 'Dirty Dancing' spirit alive," said Betty Massey, executive director of the Mary Moody Northen Endowment, the private foundation based in Texas that owns Mountain Lake Lodge. The property’s turnaround includes a complete overhaul inside and out, but Stone said it wasn’t big money that saved Mountain Lake Lodge. “Mountain Lake Lodge would not exist today if it weren’t for Heidi Stone.
