ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. – A local school resource officer had a little fun with his students by guest-starring in the school’s talent show. Organizers of the annual Rockbridge County High School talent show asked Deputy Chris Norris if he would put something together for the virtual event. In case you didnt know it, Rockbridge County High School will be having a virtual Talent Show. At the end of the video, Norris announced to students that he’s transferring to be an SRO at a local elementary school. Besides singing, Norris has learned the dance to Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean and performed it for students in the past.
Rockbridge County High School will not participate in winter sports this year
ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. – As coronavirus numbers continue to climb, one Virginia school district had to make a difficult decision impacting its athletes. Rockbridge County High School will not participate in the winter sports season, the school district announced Tuesday. Rockbridge will still participate in VHSL competition that can take place virtually, which includes forensics and Scholastic Bowl. The school district hoped there would be some relief from the increase in cases, but that was not the case. The district hopes that with a vaccine and consistent mitigation practices, Rockbridge County High School will be able to participate in the upcoming fall and spring sports seasons.
Local high school dedicates spirited parade to 2021 seniors
ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. – This local high school made the best out of an unfortunate situation by keeping the spirit alive for its graduating class. On Wednesday afternoon, Rockbridge County High School dedicated a parade to the senior class of 2021 with a caravan of cars decorated in Wildcat colors. Students have been virtual since the start of the school year, and the school wanted to make sure the seniors felt special and appreciated since they can’t spend their last year in high school in-person. Each piece of candy given out at the parade had a special message on it to encourage the students. The parade was a part of the high school’s spirit week celebrations.

You can drop off supplies today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sam’s Club on Wards Road in Lynchburg. The Kiwanis Club of Roanoke holds a mayoral debate today. Rockbridge County High School will hold a Senior Class Car Parade today. The vaccines will be given from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Blacksburg High School. James River High School will dedicate its new track today.
Rockbridge Co. High School student dies following accident
ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A Rockbridge County High School student has died following injuries in an accident Sunday, Virginia State Police confirm. Justin Ruley's football coach said he was a member of the Rockbridge High School team. "He was one of those kids people really liked," said Justin Akers, Rockbridge County High School football coach. "We talked a lot about them needing to look out for each other and being there for one another" said Allison Mock, Counselor at Rockbridge High School. Rockbridge County High School principal Haywood Hand confirms all four juveniles were students at the school although he could not release their names.
