Suspect arrested after an assault on a realtor showing property at an open house in Bedford County
UPDATE:A man has been arrested after a realtor was assaulted near Smith Mountain Lake State Park. The Bedford County Sheriffโs Office obtained warrants on and arrested 34-year-old Dustin R. Holdren of Roanoke, Virginia on Sunday. โWe host open houses, and I host open houses myself, and sometimes you just canโt control who comes through the door.โGrewe recommends realtors never show houses alone in the wake of this assault. The sheriffโs office says Holdren is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail under no bond. According to the Bedford County Sheriffโs Office, a realtor called police stating they had been assaulted while showing an open house at Mariners Landing Subdivision in Huddleston near Smith Mountain Lake.
Henry County standoff ends with manโs death
HENRY COUNTY, Va. โ An incident that started as an assault and turned into a standoff ended when authorities found the man suspected in the crimes, dead inside his home. The situation started just before 10 a.m. Saturday, when a 28-year-old woman reported that her motherโs boyfriend, Purdue, was at her home in the 3200 block of Green Hill Drive, according to the Henry County Sheriffโs Office. Negotiators from the Sheriff's Office made continuous attempts to contact Purdue without success. Next, investigators obtained a search warrant to enter his home. Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriffโs Office at 276-638-8751 or the Crimestoppers Program at 63-CRIME (632-7463).
