9th-ranked UVA survives trip to Georgia Tech
Atlanta, Ga. โ Trey Murphy III scored 18 points, Kihei Clark added 14 and No. 9 Virginia pulled away from Georgia Tech down the stretch for a 57-49 victory. Virginia finished on a 16-5 run in a game that was tight most of the way. Georgia Tech lost to Virginia for the second time this season and missed a chance to give its postseason resume a big boost. The Yellow Jackets dropped to 9-7 overall and 5-5 in the ACC.

13 Virginia survived a scare before rallying to beat Georgia Tech 64-62. Kihei Clark scored only two points for 10-2 Virginia, but they came on a short jumper with 1:09 left that broke a 62-all tie. Theyโre really good at playing with great confidence, they play fast and theyโre quick. What I saw down the stretch is, I thought our on-ball defense really stepped up. They played really good defense, but I think we could get some of what we wanted.

Maryland-Michigan State canceled after Terps' virus outbreak
The Big Ten game between Maryland and Michigan State was canceled Thursday after a COVID-19 outbreak on the Terrapins resulted in a positive test for coach Michael Locksley. Later Thursday, the Mountain West announced San Jose State at Fresno State was canceled because of COVID-19 cases and contact tracing with the Bulldogs. That is the third Mountain West game this week to be called off, joining Utah State at Wyoming, and UNLV at Colorado State. DePaul canceled its first three games because of a COVID-19 outbreak within the program, the school announced Thursday. The Blue Demons paused all activities and called off games against Western Illinois, Chicago State and Alcorn State, pushing back the season opener to Dec. 6 at Iowa State.

Georgia Tech wonโt require students to wear masks on campus. Faculty arenโt happy
CNN โ Over 750 faculty at Georgia Tech signed a letter to the University System of Georgia's Board of Regents saying that the school's plan to reopen campus without face mask requirements is dangerous and not based on science. The faculty letter comes after Georgia Tech issued its "Tech Moving Forward" plans for reopening campus with in-class instruction in the fall. According to the plan, Georgia Tech students are "strongly encouraged" to wear a cloth face covering on campus but are not required to do so. NCAA encourages day off from college sports on election day
The NCAA on Friday encouraged its 1,100 member colleges and universities to give athletes the day off from sports on election day, responding to grassroots movements of activism from players and coaches. UCLA followed with a similar announcement and Wisconsin said Friday it would also skip athletic activities on election day. The NCAA did not mandate a day off for athletes on election day. Instead, the NCAA encouraged schools to assist students in registering to vote and to give them a day off from athletics to vote. Though MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher released a statement Friday saying the schools, conference and ESPN will work to move the game to a different date,The Division I college basketball season will start about a week after election day.
Virginia snaps 3-game skid with 63-58 win over Georgia Tech
ATLANTA, Ga. (AP) โ Jay Huff and Mamadi Diakite scored 17 points apiece as defending national champion Virginia snapped a three-game losing streak with a 63-58 win over Georgia Tech. The Cavaliers finally regained their winning touch after dropping out of The Associated Press ranking for the first time since November 2017. Virginia led by as many as 14 in the second half, and held on after Yellow Jackets ripped off a 9-0 run to make a game of it. Georgia Tech lost its fourth straight home game despite 20 points from Jose Alvarado. The Yellow Jackets havenโt won at McCamish Pavilion since Dec. 4.

The Virginia Tech Hokies defeated Georgia Tech Saturday in a 45-0 win. Virginia Tech quarterbacks, Hendon Hooker and Quincy Patterson II scored a total of 21 points for the Hokies. Other contributers to the win include a touch down by Keshawn King and a touchdown from James Mitchell. Georgia Tech had two interception during by quarterback James Graham.
Perkins, Taulapapa lead Virginia past Georgia Tech, 33-28
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Bryce Perkins loves that new playmakers are emerging for Virginia, making their best playmaker - Perkins himself - even more effective. The senior quarterback threw for one touchdown and ran for another as the Cavaliers shut down Georgia Tech after halftime in a 33-28 victory Saturday. Perkins hit Joe Reed for a 9-yard touchdown and scored on a 3-yard run, giving Virginia a 24-21 lead just before halftime. The Cavaliers touchdown came on a four-play drive that included a 43-yard run by Perkins from midfield. UP NEXTGeorgia Tech begins a three-game homestand to close the regular season against Virginia Tech next Saturday.
Student uses sticky notes to snag internship
Gursimran Singh, a second-year computer science student at Georgia Tech, lives directly across from the offices of the Fortune 500 tech company NCR in Atlanta. Realizing this, Singh spelled out "HIRE ME" across the windows of his apartment using sticky notes. Later, another sticky note message appeared in the NCR windows asking, "DEV?," asking Singh whether he is a developer. Of course, Singh filled his windows with sticky notes as he spelled out his email. "I spent a lot on sticky notes, but it looked pretty cool," Singh said in a Georgia Tech news release.
