Busch Gardens to hold new limited-capacity Christmas event
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – With Halloween behind us, many people are looking ahead to the holidays. If you’re feeling festive, Busch Gardens has introduced a brand new Christmas event — they’re calling it "Christmas Celebration”. The festivities will include sparkling lights, decorations, festive food and live seasonal music. Santa Claus will be there to greet kids from a distance and there will also be a gingerbread scavenger hunt throughout the park. The event starts Nov. 13 and runs through Jan. 3.
‘Taste of Busch Gardens’ opens with scheduled reservations, over 30 drink options
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The ‘Taste of Busch Gardens’ at the Williamsburg amusement park begins on Wednesday, Sept. 2, and is accepting reservations through the end of September, according to WWBT. The event includes fifteen food selections and more than 30 drink options throughout the park. Reservations can be made on this website. Several protocols — like temperature screenings, mask requirements and social distancing — have been implemented at the park. Busch Gardens looking to start phased reopening in August
Busch Gardens in Williamsburg will likely reopen in early August, according to SeaWorld Entertainment, the park’s parent company. “The Company expects its Busch Gardens theme park in Virginia to commence a phased reopening in early August 2020,″ is what SeaWorld Entertainment wrote as part of releasing its preliminary second quarter results. No additional details were provided as to what a phased reopening would look like. Because of coronavirus restrictions, Busch Gardens and other amusement parks in Virginia couldn’t open until Phase 3, which began July 1. However, because of the limitations still in place with Phase 3 restrictions, neither Kings Dominion or Busch Gardens has opened yet.
Busch Gardens extending memberships, annual passes this season
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Busch Gardens fans, have no fear! The Williamsburg amusement park announced Monday that all memberships and annual passes will be automatically extended for as long as the current temporary closure lasts. 'An awesome opportunity': Danville fire chief looks forward to being chief in Williamsburg
DANVILLE, Va. - Danville Fire Chief David Eagle describes leaving to become the fire chief in Williamsburg as "an awesome opportunity." As 10 News reported Wednesday, Eagle is retiring from the department after 25 years. He said he had planned to stay with the department for several more years, but the opportunity to go to Williamsburg was just too good to pass up. I think that'll be exciting and a neat opportunity to learn how sharing resources and working together with other departments will be," Eagle said. An interim fire chief has been appointed while the city manager conducts a nationwide search for a new chief.
Danville Fire Chief David Eagle retires after 25 years of service
DANVILLE, Va. - Fire Chief David Eagle is leaving Danville to assume a role as fire chief in Williamsburg. Danville City Manager Ken Larking, announced Wednesday that Eagle was retiring, after serving in the role for 12 years, and 25 years as a firefighter. Eagles last day with Danville will be Oct. 11, and he will join Williamsburg on Oct. 15, according to Larking. Eagle is 50 years old and has 25 years of service with Danville, which makes him eligible to retire. Eagle also implemented the use of mobile data terminals to assist medical services in the field, according to Danville city officials.
Ironman triathlon coming to Roanoke Valley in 2020
ROANOKE, Va. - The Ironman Triathlon is coming to the Roanoke Valley in 2020 and for years to come. On Tuesday morning, officials with Visit Virginia's Blue Ridge, Carilion Clinic and Ironman announced that the international sporting event will be coming to the region. The Carilion Clinic Ironman 70.3 Virginia's Blue Ridge triathlon will take place on June 7, 2020. The Ironman triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation. Beginning as a single race, Ironman has grown to more than 230 events across 53 countries.
