FloydFest announces new musical lineup, COVID-19 safety plan

FloydFest tweeted the news on Thursday saying that Sturgill Simpson had a different opportunity he couldn’t get out of. They also said they’re excited to welcome Billy Strings to the lineup. “We’ve all been away from live music experiences now for well over a year. And if we can do that and we’re going to do that, that’s going to be the marquee,” said Sam Calhoun, the COO of Across-the-Way Productions and FloydFest. AdFloydFest also posted its COVID-19 safety plan, which includes temperature screenings at each entrance, sanitizing surfaces, mask-wearing, social distancing and more.

Billy Strings replaces Sturgill Simpson for FloydFest lineup

“When one door closes, another swings wide open...”That’s what FloydFest organizers said about a change to the upcoming festival lineup, with Billy Strings replacing Sturgill Simpson. Here’s a statement from Simpson:“Unfortunately we are no longer going to be able to perform this year at FloydFest due to unexpected and unforeseen circumstances. FloydFest is a great independent festival and we highly encourage everyone to attend even though we cannot be there with you. See you on and down the road very soon.”Billy Strings won this year’s Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album and was Billboard’s top artist of 2020 for both bluegrass categories. FloydFest 21 ~Odyssey is set for July 21 through 25, and tickets are available now.

FloydFest organizers encouraged by eased outdoor entertainment restrictions

PATRICK COUNTY, Va. – Southwest Virginia’s largest music festival is planning its return this year, which has been made easier with Virginia’s new COVID-19 guidelines. FloydFest will come back to Patrick County between July 21 and 25, social distancing restrictions permitting. Ralph Northam announced the capacity for outdoor entertainment will soon increase to 1,000 customers, an encouraging sign for FloydFest chief operating officer Sam Calhoun. “It’ll be amazing,” Calhoun said. “We’re just waiting with cautious optimism that we can get a higher number than that and have more of a large gathering on that mountain in a safe manner.

FloydFest announces 2021 lineup after last year’s canceled festival

PATRICK COUNTY, Va. – Get ready to jam out at one of the biggest music festivals in our region this summer. FloydFest has announced its lineup for 2021 after being canceled last year due to coronavirus restrictions. The festival will be July 21 through July 25, and The Avett Brothers, Sturgill Simpson, the Old Crow Medicine Show and the Turkuaz will be the headlining acts for the four-day event. The Avett Brothers aren’t a stranger to FlodyFest and were in FloydFest 4 during 2005. For more information visit their website.

FloydFest 2019 starts Wednesday

ROANOKE, Va.- - It's almost time for FloydFest 2019. In two days, thousands of people will be attend the five day music and arts festival. But the boat just really speaks about the community and about being together on this voyage and coming home," said Sam Calhoun, CEO of Across The Way Productions and FloydFest. A lot of our Floyd people that come and see us on a regular basis are at this festival as well. FloydFest will happen over five days with more than 100 performances on eight different stages.
