Virginia men’s basketball pauses program activities
Charlottesville, VA. – Wednesday afternoon the UVA men’s basketball program announced they are pausing all basketball related activities because of Covid-19 issues within the program. The moves comes in the wake of the ACC-BIG Ten challenge game against Michigan State being canceled. Virginia now officially postpones the William and Mary contest set for December 13th as well. The 18th ranked Cavaliers are 3-1 on the young season. Their conference opener against Wake Forest that was originally set for December 16th was postponed last week because of a Covid outbreak in the Wake Forest program.

Hokies lose to Demon Deacons 23-16
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Virginia Tech Hokies lost to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons by a score of 23-16. The Deacons quarterback Sam Hartman completed a 9-yard rushing touchdown, while kicker Nick Sciba completed a 41-yard field goal. The Hokies answered back with a field goal in the second quarter as kicker Brian Johnson successfully made a 28-yard field goal to cut the deficit. Late in the second quarter, Wake Forest ended the tie by scoring a 6-yard rushing touchdown by running back Kenneth Walker III. In the third quarter, the Deacs kept themselves in the lead as kicker Nick Sciba completed a 46-yard field goal.

The tour says because of a recent update on the Scottish government's guidelines for COVID-19, the tournament at the Renaissance Club with not have spectators. It would have been the second golf tournament to have fans, after the Sanford International two weeks ago in South Dakota on the PGA Tour Champions. Another postponed game, Virginia-Virginia Tech, had previously been moved to that date as well. The positive tests at Notre Dame also caused South Florida to pause on-field football activities Wednesday.

Notre Dame-Wake Forest postponed; Mountain West eyes fall
Mountain West athletic directors are aiming for an Oct. 24 or Oct. 31 start for the football season. Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson told AP last week the conference would not move forward on a fall football season without its schools having the ability to test daily. The Mountain West postponed its fall sports season on Aug. 10, the day before the Big Ten and Pac-12 did the same. The conferences that are currently staging fall football seasons have been testing athletes at least three times per week, but not daily. Notre Dame said 94 football players were tested for COVID-19 on Monday and of those seven were positive.

Hokies LB Ashby, CB Farley named to AP All-ACC team
RALEIGH, NC – Third-ranked Clemson once again dominated the Associated Press All-Atlantic Coast Conference teams and individual awards released Tuesday. Led by unanimous selections Travis Etienne at running back and Isaiah Simmons at linebacker, eight Tigers made the first team. Clemson earned its fifth straight berth in the College Football Playoff a day after routing Virginia in the league title game. Etienne repeated as the offensive player of the year while Simmons was chosen as the defensive player of the year. Louisville coach Scott Satterfield is the coach of the year while North Carolina freshman quarterback Sam Howell is the newcomer of the year.

Virginia Tech wins over No. 19 Wake Forest 36-17
Virginia Tech knocks off No. 19 Wake Forest 39-17 in Lane Stadium. The Hokies were able to make a comeback, they trailed Wake Forest at halftime, 10-6. Tech wide receiver Damon Hazelton had 86 receiving yards today. Virginia Tech hopes to take the win over currently un ranked Georgia Tech when they play in Athena next Saturday.

Notre Dame beats Virginia Tech in a close 21-20 game
- The Virginia Tech Hokies lost in a close game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Notre Dame won 21-20. Top rushing yards for Virginia Tech came from Quincy Patterson II, Deshawn McClease, Dalton Kenee and Tre Turner, with a total of 109 yards. Top rushing yards for Notre Dame came from Jafar Amrstrong, Ian Book, Jahmir Smith, and Avery Davis, with a total of 85 yards. The Hokies will take on Wake Forest at home Nov. 9, and Notre Dame will take on Duke.
