Rivermont School student faces two charges after authorities find "hit list" of peers and employees

ORIGINAL STORYA high school student was taken into custody Monday after authorities discovered the student had a "hit list" of peers and school employees. Around 4 p.m. Monday, the Alleghany County Sheriffs Office received a tip that an Alleghany High School student currently attending the Rivermont School in Covington had created a "hit list" of students and employees to harm. The list also contained the names of employees of the Rivermont School, an Alleghany County Sheriffs Office deputy and members of the suspects family, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Items authorities say they seized when conducting a traffic stop on Derrick Watkins. ALLEGHANY COUNTY, Va. - More drugs are off the streets and a Bath County man is in jail after a traffic stop in Alleghany County on Tuesday. Alleghany County Sheriff's Office deputies and Alleghany Highlands Drug Task Force officers conducted the traffic stop on a vehicle traveling through the county. Authorities seized more than 1 pound of meth, 11 marijuana vape pods and marijuana edibles, as well as $960. Derrick Watkins was arrested and is currently being held at the Alleghany Regional Jail.
More fake money showing up in Alleghany County
COVINGTON, Va.- - The Alleghany County Sheriff's Office is investigating reports of counterfeit money. A local bank last week contacted law enforcement officials about a fake $100 bill received from Low Moor County Grill. Investigators said the serial number on the back matches the number from the fake money recently found in Rockbridge County. Five men from Chicago were arrested in that case last month for allegedly using the money. The Alleghany County Sheriff's Office is working with Rockbridge County in this case.
