‘All together, we will’: Rivalry teams come together after game, show unity ahead of school system merger
While some may still be skeptical about the merger, it was clear to see the unity between the two rival teams after their final volleyball faceoff on Thursday night, according to a release by the Alleghany Highlands Public Schools.

Blacksburg High School’s Amanda Lowe named Virginia Volleyball Gatorade POY
In its 36th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Amanda Lowe of Blacksburg High School as its 2020-21 Gatorade Virginia Volleyball Player of the Year. Lowe is the first Gatorade Virginia Volleyball Player of the Year to be chosen from Blacksburg High School. The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Lowe as Virginia’s best high school volleyball player.

Rare disease doesn’t stop Roanoke County teen from winning battle on and off the field
ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – We first introduced you to Emma Snyder in 2017, when the athletic Roanoke County 8th grader was first diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disease, Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis. It affected Emma’s spine — sidelining her from volleyball, soccer and basketball — leaving both emotional and physical pain. Being able to rely on him a lot,” Emma said. Emma not only led the Conquerors to the VACA State Championship game, but she helped them earn the State Title and was named the MVP of the game.
