Glenvar clinched the Region 2C wrestling championship on Saturday at James River High School. The Highlanders had six champions in the finals, including senior Mason Hylton, who won the 132lb class.

In only their fourth meeting ever in the Region 2C final, Appomattox beat Glenvar 38-34 to win the title. It was defensive plays in the end that sent the Raiders to victory.

For the last five years in a row, Glenvar and Appomattox County have met at some point in the Region 2C playoffs. On Friday, the two will meet in the Region Championship.

The defending Class 2 state champion Glenvar Highlanders faced Appomattox County in the 2C Region final. The Highlanders swept Appomattox 3-0 for the Region 2C title.

In the Region 2C semifinals, the James River boys beat Floyd County 74-40 behind a 31 point third quarter. The win secured a spot in the Class 2 State tournament, the first appearance for the Knights since 2011.

Appomattox beat Glenvar on Saturday 27-21 to win the Region 2C title and advance to the Class 2 State Semifinals. The Raiders got a pair of touchdowns from Jonathan Pennix and a 46-yard FG from Tye Robertson in the win. Appomattox moves to 11-1 on the season, as the are seeking their sixth state title in seven years. Glenvar finishes the season at 11-2.

The Highlanders beat visiting 5-seed Martinsville 38-0.

After the first quarter, this game was tied 14-14.

The 5-seed Bulldogs beat the 4-seed Knights 16-13.

3-seed Radford beat 6-seed Floyd County on Friday night in the opening round of the Region 2C playoffs.

Glenvar put on display why the Highlanders are the 1-seed in Region 2C.

The Region 2C girls cross country championship was Wednesday afternoon at Greenhill Park. Carly Wilkes won the individual title with a time of 19:06, marking her fourth straight region championship.

The Highlanders staved off the Raiders efforts down the stretch for the 2-1 victory.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – It seems Glenvar is gearing up for a playoff run, entering the week at third in the Region 2C seeding and getting another win.

RADFORD, Va. – After a plethora of Region title games cancelled on Friday, the Glenvar girls were able to travel to Radford for a Region 2C showdown. The Bobcats lead until the third quarter, where the Highlanders were able to pull away thanks in part to guard Olivia Harris, who had 13 points that quarter, 35 overall. “It started out, we had this mentality we would lose at first. We put it together, we had a talk in the locker room, got it straight, and got the dub,” Harris said. “I’ve been working on this the whole year, but we just felt like we needed to get a state dub this year, and it’s my final year, so I’m really excited to get it this year.”Glenvar will now travel to Gate City on Wednesday for the Class 2 State Semifinal.
