Carter Bates to open as part of River Ridgeโs redevelopment plan
LYNCHBURG, Va. โ Thereโs a new store coming to River Ridge in Lynchburg. Carter Bates is the latest retailer opening during the shopping destinationโs redevelopment. The store has served the Hill City for more than 25 years although it was previously located in the Candlers Station Shopping Center. โCarter Bates carries upscale and unique fashion and accessories. They carry a lot of fantastic brands such as Brighton and Tommy Bahama -- so womenโs apparel, accessories, shoes, handbags; a lot of great items,โ said Katie Farris, marketing manager for River Ridge.
Play Ball! Little League World Series eyes possible return
The Little League World Series is planning to return in 2021 after last year's edition was canceled due to the COVID-19. A year after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Little League World Series to be canceled, organizers are hopeful the late-summer Classic will return this August. The World Series is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Auntie Anneโs, Cinnabon opening in Lynchburg this summer
LYNCHBURG, Va. โ Those in the Hill City will soon be able to enjoy hand-rolled soft pretzels and oven-hot cinnamon rolls to satisfy those cravings for a sweet treat. River Ridge announced on Wednesday that Auntie Anneโs and Cinnabon will open inside the complex later this summer. โWe are delighted to bring these iconic treats to River Ridge,โ said Amit Sehgal with Impeccable Brands, a group that owns and operates the shopping complex. โWe are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring such well-known and loved businesses to River Ridge,โ said River Ridge general manager Louise Dudley. โAuntie Anneโs and Cinnabon will make wonderful additions to the property, especially as we continue to progress on our Food Hall.โ
Dickโs Sporting Goods to open larger store at River Ridge in Lynchburg
LYNCHBURG, Va. โ A popular store is moving from one part of Lynchburg to another -- and adding 50% more space in the process. Dickโs Sporting Goods will be leaving its current location at the Wards Crossing Shopping Center in Lynchburg and moving to a larger location at River Ridge. Once that happens, the current location will close, according to River Ridge developers. The 45,000 square foot River Ridge location is 50% bigger than the Wards Crossing location, according to developers. They expect other big-name retailers to announce plans to develop at River Ridge as well.
Blacksburg's MItchell earns week six honors
BLACKSBURG, Va. - Blacksburg's River Ridge district fortunes got a big boost with a win at talented Patrick Henry on Friday night. And senior running back and defensive back Brian Mitchell did all he could to make that happen. Mitchell rambled for 186 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown on offense. Cave Spring advances to River Ridge final
ROANOKE, Va. โ The Cave Spring boys advanced to the River Ridge final with a 51-44 win over Christiansburg on Wednesday night. The Knights trailed 30-24 at the break but responded with a 12-0 run to end the third period. Cave Spring will take on Patrick Henry on Friday night in the District tournament final.

Patrick Henry outlasts Knights 52-47
Roanoke (WSLS-10 Sports)- On a night where both coaching staff's were decked out in pink T-shirts to honor the Coaches-for-Cancer "Fight on for a Cure", we saw a River Ridge boys game that saw both teams bring plenty of fight. The Patriots eventually pulled away from a 28-all game at the half for a hard-fought 52-47 win.
