Going from Decembrrr chill to a taste of early November within a matter of days

ROANOKE, Va. – Watch for wet spots on bridges and overpasses, as they may have turned slick since Monday’s light snow event. The wind started picking up Monday evening and hasn’t let up since, making it feel a little uncomfortable at times Tuesday morning. High temperature forecast for Tuesday, 12/8/2020If this wintry chill isn’t your cup of tea, then we’ve got good news for you later this week. As the jet stream retreats to the north, warmer air will move in from Thursday through Saturday. Upper air pattern by Thursday, 12/10/2020The jet stream does buckle, though, helping a cold front move our way over the weekend.

Weather Whiplash: Light snow Monday morning to 60s Thursday afternoon

ROANOKE, Va. – The official start to winter is just two weeks away, but we’re getting a little taste of it Monday morning. This could lead to some slick spots, even outside of the mountains, during the Monday morning commute. Things improve by the afternoon, but may refreeze/get slick again overnight as temperatures drop to 25-30°. Monday's wind speed and wind gust forecastThis, combined with the incoming cold, will make it feel pretty uncomfortable Tuesday morning. Wind chills will drop into the teens and 20s for many of us, with afternoon highs in the 40s.

Trading Wednesday’s winter coat for a rain coat (again) late Friday

High temperature forecast for Wednesday, 12/2/2020With our storm system moving north, the wind will still remain intact throughout the day but relax more at night. Low temperature forecast for Thursday morning, 12/3/2020Thursday starts out sunny with afternoon highs rising into the 50s. Energy from the north combines with moisture from the south to produce a round of heavy rain Friday night into early Saturday morning. FutureTracker - Friday eveningSome areas are looking at another 1 to 2 inches of rain by the time rain moves out midday Saturday. You may want to make a Plan B for anything Friday evening, but most of the weekend is in decent shape as this system moves to the northeast pretty quickly.
