Appomattox beat Glenvar on Saturday 27-21 to win the Region 2C title and advance to the Class 2 State Semifinals. The Raiders got a pair of touchdowns from Jonathan Pennix and a 46-yard FG from Tye Robertson in the win. Appomattox moves to 11-1 on the season, as the are seeking their sixth state title in seven years. Glenvar finishes the season at 11-2.
Radford boys, George Wythe boys fall in state semifinals
Big Stone Gap, Va. โ In the boys Class 2 semifinals, the Radford boys stellar season ended at the hands of the Union Bears. The game was tied at 35, but the Bears ended the game on a 7-0 run to complete a 42-35 win. In the VHSL girls Class 1 semifinals, it was a battle of undefeated teams. Honaker was paced by Leeanna McNulty with 17 points. The Tigers broke open a one point game late in the 4th quarter for a 53-47 win to return to the state championship game.
Whatโs News Today: Vaccine clinic, sports rescheduled
The Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districtโs vaccine clinic at the Berglund Center is canceled today. If you had an appointment for today, you are being rescheduled for tomorrow. Class 1 is rescheduled for Saturday, Class 3 Sunday and Class 2 Monday. The Class 1 and 2 swim championship, scheduled to take place today at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, are also being postponed. the board advises City Council and the City Manager on matters pertaining to the libraries.
