In the Class 2 State Semifinals, Glenvar defeated Gate City 3-0. The Highlanders will face the winner of East Rockingham and Poquoson.

The defending Class 2 state champion Glenvar Highlanders faced Appomattox County in the 2C Region final. The Highlanders swept Appomattox 3-0 for the Region 2C title.

The Radford Bobcats lost to John Marshall in Saturday’s Class 2 state title game, 82-43.

Carroll County girls also advanced to the Class 3 Championship.

The Raiders tied the game 28-28 late before the G-Men surged ahead for the victory.

Appomattox beat Glenvar on Saturday 27-21 to win the Region 2C title and advance to the Class 2 State Semifinals. The Raiders got a pair of touchdowns from Jonathan Pennix and a 46-yard FG from Tye Robertson in the win. Appomattox moves to 11-1 on the season, as the are seeking their sixth state title in seven years. Glenvar finishes the season at 11-2.

Carly Wilkes dominated the Class 2 girls field to win back-to-back state championships.

The Appomattox Raiders beat Union 51-21 in the Class 2 state semifinal on Saturday. They will travel to Stuart’s Draft on Saturday for the title game.

Big Stone Gap, Va. – In the boys Class 2 semifinals, the Radford boys stellar season ended at the hands of the Union Bears. The game was tied at 35, but the Bears ended the game on a 7-0 run to complete a 42-35 win. In the VHSL girls Class 1 semifinals, it was a battle of undefeated teams. Honaker was paced by Leeanna McNulty with 17 points. The Tigers broke open a one point game late in the 4th quarter for a 53-47 win to return to the state championship game.

The Roanoke City and Alleghany Health District’s vaccine clinic at the Berglund Center is canceled today. If you had an appointment for today, you are being rescheduled for tomorrow. Class 1 is rescheduled for Saturday, Class 3 Sunday and Class 2 Monday. The Class 1 and 2 swim championship, scheduled to take place today at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center, are also being postponed. the board advises City Council and the City Manager on matters pertaining to the libraries.
