7 Virginia Tech defeated No. The win proved to be the Hokies’ first Tournament win since a First Round victory over Missouri in 2006. While Virginia Tech led the ACC in three point shooting, they shot a dismal 25 percent from beyond the arc. Seventh seeded Virginia Tech had a big contribution from Elizabeth Kitley--13 points, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks--to give them a 32-21 halftime lead over No. It’s also the first NCAA Tournament appearance for Virginia Tech since 2006 and first under head coach Kenny Brooks.

NC State ends Hokies ACC tournament stay

Greensboro, NC – With Elissa Cunane picking up where she left off 12 months ago, NC State took step one toward what it hopes will be a successful defense of its ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament title. AdNC State kept Virginia Tech at arm’s length throughout the second half, never allowing the Hokies to pull closer than four points. Sophomore center Elizabeth Kitley – another Summerfield native – led Virginia Tech (14-9) with 20 points and nine rebounds. NOTES- NC State improved to 25-15 in ACC Tournament quarterfinal games, while Virginia Tech slipped to 0-6 in the quarterfinal round of competition. Ad- NC State won 84-75 versus Georgia Tech in the regular-season meeting between the teams in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve and defeated Clemson 86-65 at home on Feb. 11.

Hokies earn third straight victory with 74-55 win at Pitt Thursday night

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team earned its third successive victory Thursday night with a 74-55 win at Pitt. It was the fifth straight win over the Panthers for Kenny Brooks’ club. GAME NOTES•Virginia Tech is now 12-5 against the Panthers and have won five in a row in the series. •Kenny Brooks’ record moves to 96-56 at Virginia Tech and 433-178 in his career. •The starting lineup of Georgia Amoore, Aisha Sheppard, Cayla King, Azana Baines and Elizabeth Kitley accounted for 65 points.

Hokies take down Tar Heels for a second time this season

BLACKSBURG, Va. – It was yet another single-digit margin of victory---this time with the Virginia Tech women on the right side of score. Elizabeth Kitley helped fuel the offense as the Hokies started off on a 9-0 run. But the Hokies stellar shooting from the free throw line, 15-of-18, propelled them to a 73-69 victory. “Really good win,” head coach Kenny Brooks said.

Virginia Tech women blow 14-point lead, lose to No. 2 NC State

RALEIGH, NC – Center Elizabeth Kitley scored 30 points for the second time this season, and Aisha Sheppard added 24 but the Hokies were unable to hang on to a fourth quarter lead Sunday afternoon, ultimately falling 89-87 to the second-ranked NC State Wolfpack. The loss drops the Hokies to 7-7 (2-7) ahead of a second clash with the Wolfpack this Thursday at Cassell Coliseum. The Wolfpack fought back in the second quarter and went into the locker room holding a 47-41 advantage at the half thanks to a 10-3 run in the closing minutes. King finished with 12 points, Georgia Amoore added eight points and seven assists and Azana Baines scored seven points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Second-half run pushes Wake Forest past Virginia Tech women

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Elizabeth Kitley recorded here eighth double-double of the season (18 points and 21 rebounds) on Sunday afternoon. But the Demon Deacons fought back for the 67-64, another disappointing loss for the Hokies. Wake Forest was led by Gina Conti who scored 18 points and Ivana Raca and Christina Morra who each tallied 17 points. It was a 14-2 run in the second half that wiped away the Hokies’ 10 point lead. The Hokies are scheduled to be back at Cassell Coliseum on Thursday to host Notre Dame--their second meeting of the season with the Fighting Irish.

Virginia Tech women snap losing skid with win at North Carolina

Chapel Hill, NC – Sophomore center Elizabeth Kitley had a huge second half, finishing with 18 points and 14 boards overall as Virginia Tech snapped a four-game skid with a 66-54 win at North Carolina. “To be able to come away, finish, get away and get a win here in an historic arena is always good so I’m very proud of our kids,” Virginia Tech women’s basketball coach Kenny Brooks said. Cayla King had 15 points, including five 3-pointers for Virginia Tech. Aisha Sheppard added 15 points, while Georgia Amoore had 12 points and seven assists. The Virginia Tech women are set to host Wake Forest Sunday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum.

Hokies drop fourth straight on the road at Georgia Tech 56-54

ATLANTA, Ga. – Virginia Tech’s starting five- Aisha Sheppard, Cayla King, Azana Baines, Asiah Jones and Elizabeth Kitley- combined for 44 points on Sunday but turnovers and mistakes kept the Hokies from snapping a 3-game losing streak. Aisha Sheppard tried to set the tone early with 12 first half points, finishing with 20. “I thought we left opportunities on the table where we didn’t capitalize,” said head coach Kenny Brooks. “We’re not playing together right now and we’re not trusting each other enough and it’s showing. It’s showing at the worst time in the game.”“Minimize the mistakes that we make throughout the game because they’re becoming repetitive because we’re seeing it in multiple different films, multiple different games it’s the same mistakes,” said Hokies guard Aisha Sheppard.

Kitley’s career-best 30 points leads Hokies to 4-0 start

All-ACC performers Aisha Sheppard (19 points) and Elizabeth Kitley (30 points) led the way for the program’s 59th consecutive victory over non-conference opposition on Carilion Clinic Court. •Kenny Brooks’ record moves to 90-49 at Virginia Tech and 427-171 in his career. •The win was the Hokies’ 59th straight against non-conference opposition inside Cassell. •The bench accounted for 15 points against the Mountaineers, the best output of the young season for that group. •The 50 first half points represent the most Tech has scored in a half this season.
