I’ve corrected that record far more times than he’s even said it, hopefully, so the fact of the matter is: I support law enforcement. Webb does hope to see ongoing conversations ensuring law enforcement agencies are using best practices.

In an interview with 10 News on Wednesday, Virginia’s 5th District congressman criticized fellow Virginia GOP members as moving too far to the political right. “Republicans have always been about a big tent party, centered on individual liberty, and I think we’ve lost our way,” Riggleman said. “What if there was a governor who cares about the people of Virginia rather than just a party platform of moving on up?” Riggleman said. “If they can have a message of hope and a message that is not completely extremist, I think that’s the person that is going to win.”

RICHMOND, Va. – After a passionate discussion on Tuesday afternoon, those in Virginia’s 5th Congressional District will see Republican Bob Good on the ballot in November. Good, who spoke during the State Board of Elections meeting, admitted that he missed the June 9 filing deadline, something he has never denied. Good said that the delegates arrived at the convention “fully knowledgeable” that he was three days late in filing his form. Some felt that the candidate who was selected by the people should be able to represent them on the ballot. Others; however, felt that missing this deadline was an unacceptable oversight and an extension should not be granted.

Dr. Cameron Webb has won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House seat in Virginias 5th District, according to the Associated Press. Webb will face Republican Bob Good in November. Earlier this month, Bob Good won the Republican convention in Lynchburg, defeating Rep. Denver Riggleman. According to Webbs campaign site, he was tapped by President Obama for the White House Fellowship. He also served on the White House Health Care Team and also worked on President Obamas My Brothers Keeper Initiative, where he helped tackle issues in education, workforce development and criminal justice reform.

Good told his supporters shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday that he defeated Riggleman 58 percent to 42 percent. “We look forward to making the 5th District bright red again, as this is a strong conservative district,” Good told supporters in his victory speech. LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Fifth Congressional District will likely know its Republican nominee on November’s ballot by the end of the weekend. Delegates chose between incumbent Rep. Denver Riggleman and former Campbell County Supervisor Bob Good during a drive-through convention at Tree of Life Ministries on Saturday. The conventions are normally conducted in person, but the district switched to a drive-through model due to COVID-19. The 5th district is not a safe seat for the Republicans or the Democrats. There very well may be a fight for control of the U.S. Congress, the U.S. House of Representatives, this fall.The states Republican primary is scheduled to be held on June 23.
