Two residents displaced after house fire in Roanoke CountyROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – Two Roanoke County residents have been displaced after their house caught fire Friday night. At about 7:45 p.m., Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded to the 8500 block of Summer View Drive in the Hollins area for reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, crews found fire and smoke coming from the front corner of a one-story home. Officials said the two adults inside the home were able to escape unharmed. The two residents were displaced and are staying with neighbors, according to the fire department.

ROANOKE, Va. – Hollins University recently announced it will not be participating in any high risk spring sports--women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, women’s indoor track and field or women’s lacrosse-- due to COVID concerns. Unlike the 419 Town Center plan, the Hollins plan is focused on transportation and housing, not as much on commercial districts. HOLLINS, Va – A Hollins restaurant owner has some work ahead of him after Wednesday’s heavy rain caused flooding. The damage came after recently reopening after months of being closed due to COVID-19. Don Ho’s owner Donnie Sutliff said he has not seen water damage this bad in nearly 20 years. He estimates about 5 inches of rain got inside and caused damage to the restaurant. Don Ho’s has big plans in place to celebrate its 20th anniversary next month, but Sutliff said the restaurant will remained closed until further notice.

The university will also consider admitting trans women (men who transition to a woman). Still, nonbinary students and trans men (women who transition to a man) are not eligible for admission.
