SALEM, Va. - The Salem Fair finished its 12-day run Sunday night. Fair officials call 2019 a success with steady attendance and revenue, despite scattered storms and high temperatures. Bring socks, pay less at Salem Fair for WSLS 10 Help the Homeless night

SALEM, Va. - Tuesday is WSLS 10 Help the Homeless night at the Salem Fair. "You can help somebody and it just works for everybody," Salem director of tourism Carey Harveycutter said. Fair organizers teamed up with the Roanoke Rescue Mission for a simple but serious strategy: fair attendees donate two pairs of new socks and get $5 off their ride wristband, typically $25. "Go have a great time knowing that you have done something really important to help somebody else," said Tracy Altizer, chief development officer for the Roanoke Rescue Mission. No shooting at Salem Fair, despite social media rumors

SALEM, Va. - Salem police say there was not a shooting Thursday night at the Salem Fair. A video posted Thursday night to Facebook said there was a shooting and a brawl at the fair. Police say that was not the case, but rather officers were responding to a fight between young people. Here are some of the events happening Round Town this weekend. Enjoy the rides, food, entertainment and more. It 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. today and tomorrow and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Take the family on the rides, for the entertainment, a Carnival Burger or the world famous fries. There are seven gardens to tour, food trucks, artists and musicians.

Opening day arrives for 32nd annual Salem Fair

SALEM, Va. - The 32nd annual Salem Fair kicked off Wednesday. Crowds packed the fairgrounds to enjoy food, live music, rides, games and more. There are about 40 rides and more than 30 food venders. Admission at the gate is free so families can enjoy live music, shows, jugglers and a petting zoo, to name a few attractions. On weekdays, the fair is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., and on weekends, the fair is open from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.

ROANOKE -The Salem Fair starts. You'll find games, food and more in the parking lot of the Salem Civic Center. Starting today at noon, VDOT will stop most highway work zones and open lanes on interstates and major roads in the Commonwealth for the July 4th holiday. Salem Fair partner donates $10,000 to city schools

SALEM, Va. - Ahead of the Salem Fair, the company that helps make the event happen is giving back to our community. Deggeller Attractions, the midway partner of the fair since its creation 32 years ago, donated $10,000 to create a makerspace at Andrew Lewis Middle School. A makerspace is designed for creating, learning, exploring and sharing by using a variety of tools ranging from 3-D printers to Legos. A computer lab in the Andrew Lewis Middle School library is being modified to become this new space. The new Andrew Lewis Maker Space will be available for all students in the school and it will feature a menagerie of hands-on activities that will be relatable to current studies in a variety of subjects.
