31 Campbell County residents indicted on meth, heroin and cocaine charges
RUSTBURG, Va. โ A year-long narcotics investigation ended in 31 people in Campbell County being indicted on 62 federal charges on Sunday. The Campbell County Sheriffโs Office canine unit along with the Central Virginia Drug and Gang Task Force (CVDGTF) worked on โOperation Crystal Clearโ together. Authorities said more than 7,532 grams of methamphetamine, 227 grams of heroin and 688 grams of cocaine with a total estimated street value of $773,654 were seized during the investigation. 26 illegal firearms were also confiscated in Campbell County. Authorities searching for Dollar General armed robbery suspects in Campbell County
RUSTBURG, Va. โ The Campbell County Sheriffโs Office is looking for two suspects they say are responsible for an armed robbery at a Dollar General in Rustburg Wednesday night. At 8:00 p.m., the Sheriffโs Office said they responded to a call for an armed robbery at the Dollar General located at 329 Campbell Highway. According to authorities, deputies were on the scene within a minute of being dispatched and found the suspects left the scene before they arrived. Video surveillance showed two men entered the store just before the initial call for help was made, but their faces were partially covered by their jacket hoods, deputies say. Altavista police arrest 23-year-old man in connection with July sexual assault
ALTAVISTA, Va. โ On Thursday, police arrested a 23-year-old Altavista man they believe sexually assaulted someone in July, according to the Altavista Police Department. Nelson OโNeal Dews II was indicted on the following charges by a grand jury:Object sexual penetration Sodomy StrangulationPolice arrested Dews and took him to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Rustburg, where heโs being held without bond.
Two people wanted after four dogs stolen from Campbell County Animal Shelter
UPDATEThe Campbell County Sheriffโs Office says two of the stolen dogs were returned. ORIGINAL STORYThe Campbell County Sheriffโs Office is looking for the two people it believes stole four dogs from a local pet shelter Friday night and early Saturday morning. At 10:35 p.m., the two people stole a German shepherd who is in need of medical treatment from the Campbell County Animal Shelter. Then at 4:34 a.m. on Saturday, the two returned and took three other dogs, according to the Sheriffโs Office. Authorities believe these men range from 5 feet, 5 inches to 6 feet tall with slim builds.
Campbell County authorities ask for help identifying suspects in breaking and entering case
CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. Authorities in Campbell County are asking for the publics help in identifying the person or people responsible for stealing several items, including guns and other weapons, from a house over the weekend. It happened on Sunday just after 12 p.m., according to the Campbell County Sheriffs Office. A person or group broke into a home in the Rustburg area and stole guns, other weapons and accessories, according to the Sheriffs Office. The Sheriffs Office said the drivers and occupants of the vehicles pictured are being sought for questioning in connection with this crime. Pedestrian killed after being hit by a car in Rustburg
RUSTBURG, Va. A woman has died after being hit by a car on Timberlake Road in Rustburg late Saturday night, according to Virginia State Police. The driver remained at the scene and the woman was taken to the Lynchburg General Hospital where she later died. The crash remains under investigation. Police are working to notify the next of kin
Campbell County teens reported missing found safe
CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. โ UPDATEAccording to the Campbell County Sheriffโs Office, the two teenagers reported missing have been found safe. ORIGINAL STORYAuthorities are searching for two teens missing out of Campbell County. The sheriffโs office is searching for Faith Klitzka, 16, and Baylen Cordier, 17. The two were last seen at the Campbell County Technical School around noon Monday, according to deputies. Klitzka is described as about 5โฒ6 with brown hair and was last seen wearing a dark jacket, black pants and black shoes.

Deputies say the call came in around 9:20 a.m. A lockdown was put in place, but deputies say no threat was found. The school system has not yet released a reason for the lockdown.
