BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. UPDATEA man is dead after a tractor-trailer crash on I-81S in Botetourt County, according to Virginia State Police. Authorities say a pickup truck hit an illegally parked tractor parked on the shoulder near mile marker 158 around 5:15 a.m. According to police, the pickup then rested in the road and was hit by another tractor-trailer going south. Pedestrian hit by car in Roanoke dies early Sunday morning
ROANOKE, Va. – UPDATEThe Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian who was hit in the City of Roanoke. At 12:51 a.m. the Virginia State Police was called to assist the Roanoke Police Department with a crash in the 2800 block of Williamson Road. The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team was called to assist with the crash. ORIGINAL STORYOne person was hospitalized early Sunday morning after being hit by a car. According to Roanoke police, for a variety of factors the crash is being investigated by Virginia State Police.

MONTEREY Roy Jaret Dever, 96, of the Vinegar Run community of Highland County, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2020 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Martinsville woman dies after being hit by a Prius
MARTINSVILLE, Va. – A 52-year-old Martinsville woman died after being hit by a car while trying to cross a street on Wednesday evening. Police said that Donna Day Spencer was trying in the 300 block of Fayette Street when she tried to cross the road at about 6:25 p.m., but was hit by a 2014 Toyota Prius. She was taken to Sovah Health in Martinsville and then to Roanoke Memorial Hospital where she died. The case remains under investigation by the Martinsville Police Department. 54-year-old woman dies in Pittsylvania County crash
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – A 54-year-old woman died in a crash in Pittsylvania County over the weekend, according to Virginia State Police. Authorities say the crash happened around 9 p.m. Sunday on Waterlocked Road, just east of Smith Moutain Road. A 2002 Lincoln Towncar was going west on Waterlocked Road, which is a private drive, when the car ran off the right side of the road and hit a log. Authorities say she was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

One person in the hospital after Saturday night crash in Bedford County
BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – According to the Bedford Fire Department, a car was trapped after it crashed into a tree around 11 p.m. Saturday along the 8000 block of Big Island Highway in Bedford County. Crews removed the roof of the car to get the person inside of it out. Medics treated the person on scene. The fire department says they were then taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Check back for more updates.

Carilion modifies design, size in major expansion plan
We reported in May about the huge expansion project, investing $300 million and adding three new buildings to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Carilion vice president of facilities and operations Marty Misicko walked 10 News through the latest updates to the hospital's biggest project yet. The most visible change is noted in new renderings: the Crystal Spring Tower that's taking over the old tennis courts, pushed much further back off the road. The plan has also grown from the 400,000 square feet we reported in May to at least 454,000 square feet. I think that's a frustrating piece for anybody that's going to visit there, Misicko said.
Woman hit by car in Radford dies as result of injuries
RADFORD, Va. - UPDATEJael Osterbauer, the woman hit by a car in Radford on Saturday, has died as a result of her injuries. Osterbauer died at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Friday around 9 a.m., according to Radford city officials. ORIGINAL STORYRadford City police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle just before 10 p.m. Saturday. She was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital to be treated for her injuries. Traffic patterns were altered during the processing of the scene and have since returned to normal flow.
57-year-old motorcyclist dies in Pittsylvania County tractor-trailer crash
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. - Police say one man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding ran into a tractor-trailer in Pittsylvania County on Monday morning. The crash happened at 8:43 a.m. on Route 40, two-tenths of a mile south of Route 876 when a 2003 Kawasaki VN1500 traveling west on Route 40 ran into the back of a tractor-trailer, which was stopped in the roadway for a construction zone, according to police. The construction zone was clearly marked and had flaggers in place for the lane closure. The motorcyclist, Keith Randolph Craighead, 57, of Penhook, Virginia, was transported by helicopter to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he died, according to police. Craighead was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Two people hospitalized after SUV flips over in Bedford County
BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. - Two people are in the hospital after an SUV flipped in Bedford County, ejecting both passengers. Just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, Bedford rescue personnel responded to the flipped SUV near the 1900 block of West Lynchburg Salem Turnpike. 70-year-old Pittsylvania County woman dies after Route 58 crash
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. - A 70-year-old Cascade woman died in a hospital after crashing in Pittsylvania County on Wednesday night. The crash happened just after 10:30 p.m. on Route 58 near Route 51. Joan Stewart was driving a 2015 Toyota Venza west on Route 58 when she ran off the right side of the roadway into a ditch, overturned and then hit a building, according to state police. She was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash and was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she later died. The crash remains under investigation.
Pulaski man faces charges after he allegedly stabbed someone before getting in car accident
PULASKI COUNTY, Va. - A Pulaski man is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed someone before getting in a car accident, according to the Pulaski Police Department. Chris Dominic, 22, is facing charges after authorities say they received a call that someone was stabbed at the Meadowview Apartments around 6:30 p.m. Monday. He was taken to LewisGale Hospital - Pulaski and later taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Authorities say he was in a crash in Pulaski County not long after the incident.
