BASSETT, Va. – The Henry County Sheriff’s Office took a man in custody for four drug charges on Thursday. Authorities found the wanted person, 30-year-old Jamie Lee Ore, outside of the home. Deputies said Ore refused to exit the home, causing a search warrant to be obtained to enter the residence. The Sheriff’s Office assembled a tactical team with negotiators to assist in the incident. BASSETT, Va. – A man is in jail after authorities say he stabbed his brother during some type of altercation in Henry County on Thursday. 56-year-old Conis Callaway, of Bassett, has been charged with one count of malicious wounding in connection with the stabbing. HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating a crash that left one Bassett man dead on Thursday night. At 11:25 p.m., police responded to Route 57, just east of Route 653, in Henry County. A 2006 Toyota Corolla was traveling east when it crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a 2003 Ford Escape, according to police. Michael Leon Hall Jr. was driving the Corolla and died at the scene. The Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team was called to assist with the crash.

They found Robert Williams, 39, of Bassett, who had been shot multiple times. HENRY COUNTY, Va. – Authorities have charged two teenage boys with killing a 20-year-old Bassett man. Skyler Bryant, 20, died after being shot, according to the medical examiner’s office. BASSETT, Va. On Wednesday, Cunningham Tire manager Jamie Clark was most concerned the incoming storm and remnants of Tropical Storm Bertha could bring strong wind. The sound of a pressure washer cleaning mud off tires at Cunningham Tire Wednesday afternoon nearly drowned out the sound of cars going by on Fairystone Park Highway. Tarps had been put up inside Cunningham Tire Wednesday to try to keep rain from getting in. Henry County Public Safety director Matt Tatum estimated Sundays storm caused nearly $1 million in damage countywide. Something else that may help Cunningham Tire is the work VDOT did Tuesday and Wednesday to clean out culverts.

BASSETT, Va. – “It was really scary," said Tabitha Bowman when describing what she witnessed Sunday night when the hillside behind her home gave way. Chad said that’s the only reason the house didn’t fill up with water like his mother’s house next door. Inside his mother’s house, mud and water was seemingly everywhere. Though much will likely have to be thrown away, family members were able to salvage some items. Next door, Chad and Tabitha’s home is also damaged.

A county spokesperson told 10 News emergency crews are relocating some residents in the Stanleytown Health & Rehabilitation Center in Bassett. They are prepared to evacuate residents if necessary, but evacuations were not happening as of 9 p.m. County officials said there was significant flooding, a partial structure collapse and electrical arcing from down electrical lines.
